Default Re: 5.3 Scout II

I just purchased a 78 scout and plan to install same 5.3l/4L60e. Dana 60/14bolt. Was wondering if anyone has seen any setups with driver side front axles. The scout undercarriage is surely setup for pass. But was Hoping to use axle as it is without modifications. Was gonna flip a Dana 300 or fork up the $ and get an Atlas.

Just run a driver drop NP241. They will have the correct VSS as well. I doubt you will brake it. And if you did they are pretty cheap. Or if you have the cash get the atlas. Remember you need a VSS for the trans.

A friend is going to give me all the components to build a np205/203 doubler using a ford driver drop np205. Has anyone seen this large a setup under the scout. It would sure make for a super strong setup. I would be cutting the 27 spline output shaft of the 4l60e to fit in np203 and build a custom adapter that would retain the OEM VSS sensor. Any suggestions.

It should fit unless your running an really tall lift. Then angles will be bad.

As long as the VSS is in hte adapter before the transfer cases you will be fine.

Shifted gears a little and got my hands on a 241 so I plan on making the doubler using the low gears out of it and adapting it to the NP205. I want to put the VSS on the 4l60e output shaft like AA does. I would assume the ECM would rather this cause the motor RPM and speed will be constant therefor shifting at right RPM not MPH. Also found some 2010 Camaro exhaust manifolds for $10 a set so I bought 2 sets. Thinking of running two passenger side manifolds so driver side will exit in the front under pan to tie into other pipe. Hopefully this will not interfere with the HP Dana 60 driver drop axle. Still indecisive on motor mounts. I would like to make some similar to M.O.R.E bomb proof style. Anyone know of any for ls into scout2.

Yeah you really have to have the VSS in the trans adapter for a double as the PCM will not have the right shift table for the lower gears.

Just buy a universal SBC mount kit for X company and make adapter flats out of flat stock.
