Default Help.. Carpet install

I recently purchased some carpet for my 1977 scout ii and I thought this would be a pretty straight forward install. But I'm not sure if I need to remove the a/c radiator box in the floorboard or if their is a trick where I won't have to. Any help would be much appreciated.

You are betteroff removing it. The idea of shoving it up behind there can create a problem because that is where the air intake is.

If you carefull you wouldn't have to take the box out of the truck so you can leave the hoses in place.

Installing new carpet requires everything that interferes with it to be removed. It might be straight forward but getting it to fit correctly can be a chore especially over the tunnel and up under the dash. You may have to do some cutting for a good fit
I really would not want to try installing new carpet with the AC in place. Taking it out is a matter of removing the screws and disconnecting the hoses and wiring

Now I don't know you skill on HVAC so disconnecting the hoses from the system is best left to the pros so it can be done safely and correctly.

The rest is rather simple and straight forward and canbe done in under an hour.

There are 4 studs that go through the firewall and hold the box in place. I believe that 2 are in between the inner and our fender and the other 2 are inside the inner fender. There are 2 wires one for power and the other goes into the engine bay that triggers the clutchon the compressor. the duct work has one screw under the dash on the drivers side and several that hold it to the box.
