Default Re: Who has a Scout II with PTO????

My CJ5 had the PTO that ran off of the back of the dana 18 transfer case, the trans had to be in gear and the transfer in neutral, it coupled to the splines on the back of the bull gear,it ran a hydralic pump and had a hydralic motor monted to the input of the winch, a 10,000 lb koering. It was operated via a single spool valve mounted beside the driver seat, it could be forwarded or revesed simply by moving the handle the other way. It also was subject to speed by gear selection of the trans. Being hydralic it was realy smooth on the start and stop, unlike the jerky electric winches.
As for power it would pull the jeep along with all four tires locked up solid!

Default Re: Who has a Scout II with PTO????

So I am going to look at a '72 Scout II with a pto winch. Info on the pto seems scarce but supposedly it is on a d20 attached to a 727. I need to pull the 304 in this scout and put it in my 79, I would love to pull the pto and winch as well. I know it needs a carrier bearing but is supposed to be complete otherwise. Is there a place that has pictures of the different pto setups that attached to d20 transfer cases? I have seen some that only have a front output, Koenig I believe. Any big reason not to do the swap? Anything to look for on the pto and winch that would be a dealbreaker?
