That's what I was thinking, but I was hoping someone would give me a definitive answer so I didn't get it wrong. I don't have another one to look at.

The end with the slight curve downward goes to the rear. From what I can tell looking at the pic the spring ends on the left goes to the back.

The guys above are correct. The end that goes up(left side of pic) is designed to go to the rear. It is made this way so the main leaf is more or less in line with the spring hanger bolt. This is supposed to keep the springs from bending when you hit big bumps. If you put them in backwards the spring will try to wrap around the spring hanger bolt resulting in a bent spring. That's the theory anyway. In reality they still bend pretty easy.

Just recently bought my Scout and saw this post yesterday. Went out this morning and looked at my springs and based on the comments above looks like mine are on backwards??
Just wanted to get confirmation before I start removing things. While looking at the rear springs, also noticed that the bolts the PO used in the forward hanger were too long and creased/dug in to the frame.... The passenger side bolt is still against the frame and the driver side bolt has backed itself out and you can see the "dimple" in the frame. I know it is not a good thing, but is the damage to the frame something I should be overly concerned about right now? I don't plan on doing any extreme off roading with it....mainly weekend driver and hunting truck. Thanks |

Anyone feel this is something to take into consideration when you do a reverse shackle? Should the side that was attached to the hanger then be flipped to to front?
