Default Blowing turn/reverse light fuse

I have a 72 Scout II (345) with a problem that I can not figure out how to fix. I keep blowing the 15A fuse for the turn signal/backup light circuit. I tore the dash apart and retraced all the wiring the best I could. Everything was secure and not loose. I popped a new fuse in and it worked for a while.

A few days ago, I was driving at night and saw the fuse blow. It was at higher RPMs (reving the engine) with the backup lights on. Now I am completely stumped as I don't know enough about 12v electrical and the Scout systems. It did not blow any other fuses, just the turn/backup fuse.

I've searched but haven't found anything. I looked through the service manual and it didn't have anything either. If you have any suggestions on where to start, it would be appreciated!

Does it blow when being operated or at any random time?

What I see is that it is happening while the reverse lights are on but at a higher RPM. Idling and reverse will not do it. I haven't noticed the turn signals blowing the fuse at all.

Have you replaced the backup switch? You may have a short.

No - Just started looking into the problem and was thrown for a loop when it only happened at higher RPMs. Didn't know where to go from there.

If you think that's a place to start, I'll get one and go from there. They are relatively cheap and will eliminate at least one possibility.

Thanks for your help!

Well, replaced the switch and drove it all afternoon. That may have been the problem. The old switch was showing on the meter that it was functioning correctly but it could have been an intermittent problem.

Thanks for your help and I'll let everyone know if I have further problems!
