Clutch is no big problem. Get the pedal rack from a 67-68, they have separate clutch and brake masters. Then, while you're at it, swap the vacuum booster for a hydraboost, and you'll never regret the extra work. It's THE best brake upgrade you can make.

By the way, drums are not inferior to discs. On the contrary, they have a lot more surface. The only thing that's better with disc brakes is that they are easy to service, and if you're into racing, they cool off better than drums. A properly adjusted set of drums is at least as good as disc brakes of the same size.

The solution to the master cylinder problem is easy if you do decide to swap the axles (and even if you don"y, I recommend it. You need the adapter plate from a '67 or '68 with dual circuit brakes. You get the upgraded safety of dual circuit and separate clutch and brake mast cylinders. If you decide to go this route PM me or go to mt web page in my sig, I think I still have one left that I have pulled.

I'd been thinking in terms of fade when I mentioned the superiority of disk over drum. I also have a 3/4 ton Dodge/Cummins that I fill full of cord wood and drive down mountains with confidence. Only thing wrong with it is it's 2wd...

Hydraboost, hmm.. Never heard of it. Googeling..

Hmm, Hydraboost.. Never heard of it

hydroboost.. Common on Chevy Astro van and 1 ton 3/4 ton pickups from 87-2000
uses hydraulic pressure for power brakes from an extra port on power steering pump

Oh, I found it http://www.boundarywaters.biz/kihyintr1ozs.html

Does anyone still have a rear 6 lug drum they would part with?

One of mine is bad on my 52 Metro and I'm having a b**ch of a time finding one.

Thanks!
