I have been thinking about a wire ribbon that is fixed to the upper and lower hinges, I think this would eliminate the bunching up when the door is closed. I am only then worried about the movement of the wires in the hinge box in the pillar. How do you think this would work?

I had three pairs of speker wire in my old Black Scout that way. One was speaker, one PW, one PL...I replaced them once a year.

Mike I am using you as a sound board and picking your brain. The next idea I came up with is this, and I think it would be a very nice fix maybe a little spendy but looks good on paper.

I have some "jamtac" ones from summit. A little cheaper. Also. Ould scrounge minivan sliding doors at the junkyard too. I don't like the idea of the stuff not working with the door open, though

I also have power door locks so that maybe part of the issue but there are a ton of wires folded at the door jam. I would like to see how you are going to deal with this because I will be doing mine again very soon.

And the Scout looks great, you have done a stellar job.
Yes, stellar job, I love the paint and the color too

I have 4 speaker wires(14ga)(tweets and mids)at each door and power window power feeds(2)(14ga) and the switch wiring(3 18ga on the pass side,5 on drivers side). I've had this setup for about 10 years without a problem, just can't figure how to route 2 more wires for the power locks without getting a "bind" like you have had.
This wiring runs out the lower wing vent bolt plug (on the door side)and behind the hinge and around into the body above the hinge.
Scott

BTW, My wifes 99 Heep sport has the boots and I've also had to fix the wiring on the drivers side twice in 7 years, maybe it's the boots??

Thanks for the kick in the pants, JJ!

If anyone ever says that Silverado/Tahoe/'Burban seats fit a Scout II easily...they're full o' crap. However, they DO fit...

It takes a little of this:

, and a little of that:

, to give you this:

, so you can go over everything with some of this:

, then lay down some of this:

, followed by some fuzzy black stuff! (sorry no pic, yet!)

Then we went back to working on the dash bezel...not liking the stacked, added on look of the round gauge plates available, we filled the rectangle holes and built it up level to the rest of the OEM gauge plate, then cut round holes in it.

We'll paint it semigloss black to match the dash, and put the gauges in it.

We picked up speakers for it, are making up an air intake, etc. We have an appointment for exhaust on Friday, and hope to have oil pressure and water temp gauges (at least) all hooked up and running by then, as well as the carpet, seats, etc in it, so it is drivable after the exhaust is on. Still gotta wire the fans and a few other things too, though.

I'm ready to start , and stop for a while!
