Default smelling gas

I'm smelling gas in and around my truck, especially after running it. I've looked and do not see any leaks it seems to be stronger on the passenger side. Has anyone experienced this.
Thanks

We did on my son's scout. Carburetor was running rich, fought it for awhile, then went EFI from Hamilton and cleared the gas smell right up.

what the current situation with your fuel system? Is it all still intact from the factory?

charcoal canister, vent lines, fuel/liquid vapor separator?

Something is leaking. FIND IT!! Before you get sick or your truck burns up.

My last go around with gas smell was in a 74 PU. The nylon line from the passenger side tank had caught under the body mount and cracked. Found that byt removing the line at the swap over valve and the other end at the tank then plugged one end and gently pressurized the line with air - just 8 lbs. It would not pressurize so I replaced it and found the crack after I pulled it out.

After checking for leaks, also make sure all the perforations in the firewall are plugged. I use duct seal flame spread putty from THD electrical dept. when gromets just won't do.

After taking a break de to my bells palsy returning I think I've figured out my gas smell. After driving for 20 minutes or so when I turn the truck off if it sits for 20 minutes to 5-6 hours I'll try to start it and it'll just spin over when it finally starts smoke bellows out from under the breather. It backfired so loud the other day my neighbor ran out in his shorts thinking I had fired a shotgun. It's only backfired that one time but black smoke bellowed out my left tailpipe. I have a Holley 1850s. I'm guessing a bad power valve. I'm getting my engine mounts reworked correctly next week and I'll probably let the guy rebuild the carb while he has it. Has anyone used polyurethane mounts?
