Sometimes just the weight of all the caked on crud that's on a IH driveline will make or break a load like that on a little truck...

Kidding aside, the only thing I'd worry about beyond the load being secured is that the tire pressure it up to par.

Don't forget 1/2 ton truck is payload capacity. You have additional capacity if your tank is less than full, no passengers, no spare tire, etc. so if your close on weight and not terribly far you can probably push the load capacity without putting yourself in danger.

its standard air temp and press calcs . . 70*F and 29.92" of mercury or was that ford?
yes stagnant air in cyls will weigh more, because of oil mist, and granules of tetra ethyl lead still in the cyls..
so I'd evacuate the air from the interior of the engines cyls, and trans mission, and crankcase- then pump in helium, it still has wieght, but if enough is pumped in that will lighten the total wieght measured and offset the gvw of the truck and that might make a difference in getting back home . .
oh be sure to scrape off the caked on dirt and road grime mentioned ,,
if any of that falls off, while on the road, serious fines occur if caught polluting the enviroment.

I slid one in the bed had to brake hard on the way home in my F350... Not good on the front of the bed. Block it, chain it, etc.

---If I could move an engine 50' to a shed, without platform, on A.R.M. with nothing but a cherry picker, I am sure you can move it in a bed where the casters on the hoist will roll. Set it as far forward on the the bed as possible, then relocate the picker so when you lift it up, it swings forward. Then keep inching it forward that way till it's gutentight against the front of the bed.

---As for the flatulence that may have caused the stale/stagnant air, remember that saturated rust weighs more than dry rust, so bring a power inverter or lots of HD extension cords & a hair dryer so you can blow dry it. The hot air is the key

I'm ALIVE!

It actually drove really well, piece of cake! We ended up having to push it to the front of the bed with another truck and a 2x4.... which by the way worked great haha

well thanks all for the advice you guys ended up saving me some money because I didnt have to borrow a big old gas guzzler like I planned.
