Default How to clean up my traveler top?

I have this top:

And I don't know the first thing about bringing it back to a nice white. It seems chalky, so I worry about painting it. My dad said to use comet. I thought I should sand it and prime and paint. Or is a rattle can good enough?

Also, how too I secure the stripping ?

I'm with the sand and paint route, and I think a rattle can would be OK if that's what you have to work with. Some guys have used DIY bedliner in the color of their choice and that seems to work fine also. Whatever you do will be an improvement, the stock top by now will bleed white all over the truck every time it rains.

Have you tried a pressure washer?

Also, I think this is in the wrong forum (binder builds vs general IH tech)

I whipped mine down with thinner and used Rustoleums Plastic spray paint. It worked really really well. The plastic spray paint is almost like a die. Its been three years now and has held up really well.

Your Dad is right...Take a five gallon bucket. One gallon of water, one can of Ajax or Comet, and some liquid dish detergent. Scrub with a brush... A used car salesman showed me that with an old white scout I owned...worked great...
