Default Elec short help/advice

Need some help/advice. I shorted something out and cannot locate the issue. I have a 78 Scout II, 345, Howell TBI with GM ECM/Wire Harness, Pertronix ignition/ignitor, and painless wire harness. All components installed by PO. I connected a wire coming from my starter to the ballast reisistor - and killed her. Was cleaning up loose ends and the wire obviously was connected there at some point. Truck has good spark but no power to ECM, elec fuel pump doesnt turn on with ignition. She ran great prior to short. I have checked all fuses, replaced fuel pump relay, checked ignition switch, replaced coil, and have tried to find any fusable links blown - unable to locate. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Truck has been DOA in garage for over 6 months and wife is not happy - LOL!!!

There are three wires on your starter solenoid. The big one is the battery positive cable. The other two and small wires. One comes from the ignition switch and activates the starter. The other originates at the solenoid and by-passes the ballast resistor to get full voltage to the coil for start up only.

With your ignition system you do not need the ballast resistor by pass at all.

Without a couple of hours using a test light and a meter, I don't know what happened. Find a knowledgeable friend and put him to work.
