Let's make SHORE we're on the same page here....

Go to this thread:

http://www.binderplanet.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=35025

and check out post #26

That shows what I've done for our S80 crapball.

Basically the same/similar as what Mike and Ant have done I think.

Gimme a close measurement regarding the length of the hoses anyone needs and I'll chop 1/4" longer. This stuff is MAJOR PITA ta cut, it has a spring steel "anti-collapse/ground" wire that spirals between the two plies and ya WON'T cut that with dikes or a cable cutter! I PROMISE ya...ya DON'T wanna scruu with choppin' this stuff down! It's hard ta chop on than mesquite or petrified cedar posts!

It's Thermoid "Bellowsflex" and carries ALL applicable Coast Guard and SAE ratings on the stripe for certification purposes. It does NOT stretch at all and will NOT make even a slight radius bend except over a 3>4ft. distance! 48mm/1-7/8" ID which is CORRECT for S80/S800 tank filler nipples.

NO CHARGE for this service! I got a supplier here with THOUSANDS of ft. of this schnizz and anythin' else in the rubber/hose/tube/sheet deepartmint! Got enuff left right now for about 5 connecting hoses, 6" long...I'll cut to YORE dimension. I can send it ta you boyz anytime iffin' ya need before post New Years.

Anybody seen Willy this week?

Michael,

That is pretty much what we did. Though it doesnt look as good as how you did it. I will measure the distance and shoot you a line.

Thanks

Mike

Couple of updates.

I suffer from the occasional insomnia. So I was wide awake this morning at 3:30am. So I went down and cleaned the garage and did a few things on Anthony's 80.

Finished repacking the driver side hub.

The front marker lights on this 80 were toast. We found a couple light socket type things from the local auto parts store.

Took a little grinding on the bracket thing. But they turned out functional. a little silicon to seal them up and the whole front end of the scout is wired!

Just waiting on parts from Anthony, along with the dash and the rear tail lights. And this should be moving on it's own.

Just to post an update in case anyone is wondering.

Things we got done, since the last update.

1. Total rewire, with a fuse box etc. All but the Temp sender, oil sender, and the brake light switch. Mainly because I can not figure out how to connect the wires to the switch. ( I mean what kinf of connectors to use. )
2. Replaced the wipers with electical ones.
3. added a cigarete lighter.
4. Finally got the old steering box off the 800 and installed the steering wheel with the new bell joint kit.
5. All new brake shoes. 2 new drums in the front. 3 wheel cylinders rebuilt. One replaced.

We did discover that ALL of the brake lines and hoses were clogged with crap, so we were unable to bleed the brakes. The metal ones seem to be able to be cleaned. The rubber hoses are going to get replaced.

Things that still need to be done.

1. Get it running again.
2. service the differentials.
3. Service the trans/Transfer case.
4. Service the tie rod ends etc..
5. Replace body bushings.
6. Replace spring bushings.
7. Replace shocks.

Hey HCB,

Remember this thread...
The rebuild/restoration/just get the damn thing running resumes. I hope to be able to post some new pics soon.
I just scored an original shop service manual CTS 2302 on ebay for cheap. This should get things going again.

Thanks in advance for all the future advice and encouragement.

Hey Ant, I don't mess with the 80/800's much but I can wrench/cut/grind/weld like the wind! Ziggy is around also but I can't speak for his schedule. Springtime is coming and his line of work may have him pretty busy for a while.

Holler if you need whatever. Going to the meeting the 19th? I'm driving.
