After careful consideration and having looked at the internal diagram of the carb, I have decided to look into the possibility of switching to a 2 barrel. The adapter is only 15 bucks plus shipping. The question now becomes "which 2 barrel?"

Ideas? I would think the smaller the better, and something that requires very little linkage modification. I have good 2 barrel carbs laying around, but they are pretty good sized.

The Rochester 2GC would be my choice.

Do you have any of the two-barrel L-6 manifolds that were used on BD264's?

That would make it an easy swap for one of the small-butterfly 2GC's.

I've never even seen one of those 2B manifolds. Heard about them.

The stovebolt adapter link gave me a phone number to talk to a guy who has Holley/Weber 32/36 progressive carbs, and he wants me to sent a pic of the back of the carb to figure out what would be needed for the linkage. I'm seeing the "real" webers on e-bay for 100-200, depending on condition, with manual choke linkage, but have not seen the Holley version, which is supposedly much cheaper.

If there is a readily available Rochester available that will bolt on, the 2bbl manifold might be a direction to go if I can find one and get the gaskets.

There are a few good wrecking yards around your Richland location.

I scored a 2bbl manifold for one of my projects recently when I was in Kennewick. I can't recall if I have a spare one or not.. I will check the iron pile. If I do, I think we can work out something on it.
