I recently bought this old IH truck off a farm, I'm having trouble getting it running.
So far it will only run poorly on one cylinder with backfiring out the carb. I checked compression and it was even in all the cylinders. I checked the firing order and set the timing at 0 degrees TDC. The previous owner said it was running last year but who knows how accurate that is. I drained the gas out of the tank, it only had about a liter of stale gas in it, it wasn't too stale so that lends credence to his claim. I can't get the fuel pump to pump anyhow. I rigged up a gravity feed to the carb. Any ideas? I should check the timing chain. |

I recently worked on a 64 C900. Spent quite a while chasing what sounds like a simpilar problem to yours. Even tho the truck had a brand new rebuilt distributor installed........turned out the condenser was bad

Which engine? If its an IH, there's no timing chain, just gears.

I've gotten it to run better, but it still will not fire on 3,4 or 6. Not sure why, it has good compression, it's getting fuel to those cylinders and it has spark on all six. so I'm at a loss. |

Just a thought. Swap the plug wires around and see if the cyclinders not firing changes.
