This one came to us from a BP member in MD. It's a little rough around the edges, but with a little love anything can be a good vehicle, right? We have - slash- are going to be putting in a used windshield glass with a new seal, and doing some floor patching and replacing, and overall making it into a more structurally sound driver. It was a "work-in" project, with no real time frame, but it's been here too long, and too little has gotten done. Time to get to work!

First things first, I had to be able to get all four doors opened up to get at those floors! The left rear door was locked, and the lock rod had come unhooked at the latch. Interesting predicament, resolved by a little fussing with a coat hanger and a screwdriver.:D Then I pulled the windshield and cleaned the area up with the Crud Thug...to find this:

Yay. Tore into it a bit more to get to this:

More yay. SO I cut the crustiness out and got busy with the shear and brake, and made a patch panel:

    After a little POR-15:

The windshield frame patch wasn't show quality, but it was good enough to follow suit on the other side:

Then we cleaned up the windshield and installed it with the new gasket, set in the POR-15'd channel. It looks soooo much better with the glass back in it!:D Meanwhile, I got to work with the rear floor area, removing the crusty...which was pretty much the whole bed floor, so we decided to replace it all!

So the floor metal is ordered, and we have the braces in the works, too. So while we wait, we pulled the back seat and started to see what we had to work with in there...MORE yay. The owner has patched the left side floors already, so our attention is focused on the right side for now.

So, right now we are scared to cut any more out of the rear floors until we get the cargo floor structure back in there...not much to hold it together if we take it all out at once! So we're at a standstill for right now. More to come, later!

If you are going to do the rear quarters, there are 2 ways I have seen them done that look nice, they both use pickup front fenders, one cutting into short peices like I did,and one using the complete arch

    Zilch. Our current projects are:

My trail Scout with a bare metal cage.
This WM that is about to have a bare metal cargo floor.
A Scout II that we are about to pull axles out of, rendering it immobile.
Project XXX with a bare metal firewall.
Dad's Scout with bare metal quarter panels.

That's five trucks, all of which must be stored inside. If anyone has been IN our shop, you know the challenge that this presents. Our shop is plenty large enough, but at the same time we have crap piled everywhere. The past week or so has seen very little projects progress...and a LOT of shop cleanup! We should be getting somewhere on several projects soon!

We have a 332" Wheelbase Kenworth, three mostly complete Scout II's, and a Scout II in pieces sitting in the shop in this picture. We could fit another 6 or 8 Scouts in there and still walk around them if we needed to, now. It's kinda scary!

We hope to get the chassis for XXX dropped off for powdercoat this week, and axles pulled from a Scout that there is no build thread for (yet) for lockers and gears, and hopefully get the WM in early next week to work on the rear floors while we wait for the rear sill from Super Scout.
