Can anyone tell me what this box is? The box is marked Holley, and the speedometer cable from the transfer case is going in the bottom, then coming out the top again and into the firewall. There are also two vacuum lines on it, one is coming out of the intake manifold, the other is disconnected from when I swapped carbs out and said " well there are always extra parts". So if anyone can tell me where that line is supposed to call home is, I'd appreciate that as well.

If it is I'd like to know where they're hiding the controls for it! But no, too early of a scout, and it's a manual trans. I see what you mean though.

Deceleration control module. Emissions device. Non-essential.

I didn't know there was any emissions on a 71, so I could just cap off both vacuum lines, I wonder if that would stop the backfiring when I step off the gas at high speeds. Right know my little 100hp 6 cyl sounds like a semi using the engine brakes whenever I let off. Would I be able to hook a speedometer fixer box to it, rather than crawling down and hooking it up to the transfer case?
