Hey guys got my truck driveable again. I'm wanting to now if there is any reason why a T964 wouldn't bolt into my truck. It is a 68 1100C Dana 60 front and rear 4.56 gears. 33 inch tires. The truck is set up the way I want but would be nice to get rpm down at freeway speeds. I found a later series T964 for $400. The ratios are very close to a nv4500 and the ih trans would be cheaper cause no adapter. I don't want larger tires. I now all about the split between 3rd and 4th gears. I own a nv4500 in a diesel. I don't need to know why this trans sucks or dosent. Just simply if IH changed something between the models of T34 to the newest version that would make difficult to put on my truck.

I took a quick look and found no T434 model code listed as a standard equipment option. T494 would be the newer replacement for a T34. The T495 and T496 were replaced by the T698 and T699. I find no newer version of the O/D T494. As near as I can tell IH never used numerical T numbers higher than T699.

Yeah the split is not to bad save for hills or towing heavy, grant will be worse with a SV as a diesel will make little more torque than an SV. I have 4.56 T34 and 35 run 75 no problem. But you will need the bellhouse to unless you already have a 5speed in the truck.

What size tire you running. Do you have a t34 or t35. I'm running 3200 rpm at 65 mph. I have a 304.

T34 on 35's. I guess the"s" got left off the 35 part. I run 2500 rpm at 70. Your tires maybe smaller than 33 I bet as you should be 3018 rpm with 1:1 and 4.56 gears. Using this cal, https://www.ringpinion.com/calculators/Calc_RPM.aspx The T34 has a .82 OD.

With a OD T34 it will drop to around 1500-2600 at 65.

Thanks for the info. Yes my tires are 285/75/16. Need to get the correct speedo gear. I'm afraid 35 inch would be to tall for a 304 to pull well. I built this truck to do many things not just good at one thing. It will be interesting to see how it goes. I will entering in truck pulls this year. Stock class. I think I will still smallest engine in the class. But 4.56 and lockers should help.

Did your truck come stock with the T34? Which side is your clutch arm on?. Mines hydraulic slave on passenger side mounted to bracket on rear of engine. I think I could turn the clutch rod to make it work or modify if needed
