    Hi All!

Im in the process of a swap for a new ignition and steering wheel. (Grant)

In the process I noticed that my upper Bearing in the column is shot and all the bb's poured out. Do you guys have a part number for it?

Its a 79 with Tilt Column. Its the bearing closest to the wheel itself.

    Thanks in Advance!

    Joe M.

Thanks Doc. I will have a look. Any specific vehicle I should choose to list when looking that up online?

    K5 blazer?
    Pickup truck?

Been looking online for the part online at all the big box shops. They dont have an international listing or a GM listing for the upper bearing. My best guess is to make some measurements of the id and od and try and match at a parts store. What do you guys think? Anyone else replace this bearing?

    Thanks-
    Joe

RACK KIT IGN SWITCH, GM P/N; 7844651

Came with ign rack, spring & two bearings, (upper & lower).

    Local dealer will have it.

    Thanks for the help fellas.

Dan, I ordered it from the site you listed. 44 bucks for one little bearing! nuts

Either way, I will be back on the road in no time!

Again, Thanks for the info guys!

FYI, if anyone thinks of asking Steering Column Services for parts for the older non-tilt steering columns used from 1968 back, don't bother. They don't have anything.
