Is the truck a Scout or a Scout II?

Interesting. Searched Crimson's bible on IH trucks there is no mention of a "Sidewinder" Scout! The only "sidewinder" that I can think of was a Turbo and a wench. I also would like to see a picture of it.

It has a picture of what appears to be a snake on wheels on the decals from back to front.I have access to a digital camera and will attempt to post some pictures.I've owned and still do own several scouts, none like this one tho. First one for me.

Does the decal look like this: [IMG]

It is off a 1970 Ford Mustang. Seems to me that it was a special package put together by a private company, kinda like CVI or Midas.

Kinda, sorta, has 4 wheels under the snake, and a 4x4 above. Also has a light bar on the roof, and a BIG bracket where a winch used to be on the front.Bought it, along with 3 other scouts from a elderly gentleman who is in declining health. He kept 3 of them in a barn(2 are parts vehicles) Will try to post some pictures this week. This critter has been in storage since the early 80's. John

The 800 Scout Python had snakeskin interior, what does the sidewinder have. And three scouts in a Barn, one of which hasn't been much heard of, what a find! Lucky dog... :D

Here is a picture of the Sidewinder. Sorry about the dirt, like I said, I just pulled it out of a barn. I will eventually be interested in selling this one and two others. Have photos if interested.

There was a pc of literature on E-bay a few weeks ago for a Scout II that was modified by a company and was to be taken on a car show circuit. I don't think it was Sidewinder, but it had a non-IH name like Boss or ??? I was going to bid on it, but forgot to check it on the last day.

We replaced the GPS computer for a couple of Canadian's in one of those vans last spring. First, last and only time I had ever seen that logo till now.

Ran across this ad and then this thread. Attached a pic since the link will most likely go dead soon. I think it would be a cool resto, but his starting price is too high imo. Mainly wanted to document another one of these trucks.

Same truck as the original post. Not a factory decal kit. There have been a few different aftermarket decals i have seen over the years applied to scouts. If they were applied when the scout was new, they age along with the factory paint and give a cool patina, but not oem ih at all

I saw another sidewinder for sale a couple years ago. It was different with "sidewinder" decals on the fenders. I think it was an orange 79.
