    Hi all,

Interesting question, but I'm going to say no. Mine doesn't have any rubber parts in those slots. If there were some kind of bumpers in those locations originally I can't imagine how they would have disappeared.

Then again, some board members do have comprehensive parts books on these trucks. Someone might confirm that bumpers where used there in some years (probably earlier than mine).

Yes, there are. They are square. I don't think they are needed unless you plan on putting a lot of weight in the center. Maybe super scout specialists has them.

Well there you go. Might have been part of the original design and then left out of the production process at some point. I can't see them doing any good, except maybe noise dampening there. Or as JRC said, to help with excessive loads. But I don't know how much good rubber 'shims' would be at that point.

I'm curious what others will say about it.

Thanks guys,, I don't plan on making this a work vehicle so the only weight would be the spare tire and and rear passengers . But since I have welded in a new floor ( 12 guage diamond plate steel ) I think this should be sufficient for weight bearing.

Not sure when they started but 79 and 80 both had square cushions there.

Gloscout your thinking waay to heavy. Let it lie, unless your gonna be hauling engine blocks in it. If so, then buy a pickup !

Yes, but they didn't do much. Too soft. I'm OCD so I drilled the top of the rear crossmember for stud mounted polyurethane bump stops.

Not all scouts had them. I have a 72 and had a 74, and neither had them. But the 77 and 78 I have do have them. The 74, 77 and 78 were all stock, but my 72 had a body lift installed before I got it, I cant say for sure that they were ever there.

I dont think they are available anymore. It seems that someone was looking for them here some time ago without results.

My '75 has them, but with new body mounts they don't come close to touching the crossmember.
