Hey guys hope you are all doing good and still enjoying your IH iron like me. Been slow on the Scout lately I had so much going on with my vehicle having to go to the shop under warranty and me and the wifey's 27th anniversary she is a good woman to put up with me. Also worked on one of the atv's and few other things we had going. But I did get the power steering mounted up and am working on getting a new pulley and I washed out the radiator and few other odds and ends. Anyway hey everybody hope all is well.

I slowed down a bit as well. Body work has buried in what seems to be a never ending exercise. I'm working on quarter panels at the moment, but nothing worth putting in photo. Soon, I hope to have the scout in primer and get final prep ready for paint.

 

I am trying to find the right pulley for the ps pump I talked to a couple people today and still not 100 percent so I am calling march pulleys tomorrow to talk to a tech guy. I think I have it figured out but want to be sure I think a Dorman 300-121 will work we will see. Also i got the J**p back from the shop and did the right thing and got rid of it yesterday. i never knew how much I liked my Scout until I bought a j**p man that was a nightmare. So now i'm down to 6 vehicles I have to get busy finding another one. Can't have just one.

just waiting on my p/s pulley to come in, I been working on one of my other daily driver trucks and next week if the rain holds out enough i have another truck in my pole barn I am going to try and find my direct short so I can get it started. Also I am picking a day and go to my Dad's he has been storing my old hot rod for me so I need to get it home too I have a spot for it so I need to bring it home so I can keep it in shape. Lots of fun more to come

got some more done today on the Scout I am ready to put the radiator in next so almost back to the point i can start it again.

@arkansasdave, is your radiator original and if so, can you pose a picture of your radiator? Specifically where the overflow joins the filler neck? Mine came off and I need to see how it went back together.

 

yes it is for now until I get the new one but i will get some pictures today and post them

i am going to see if it will hold water so I can use it to run the engine around the place until I get the new one. I think I am going to use a 79' Ramcharger aluminum new radiator it has a center cap, downflow and lower on the passenger side by the water pump and i read about someone else using one in a Scout and had good luck and the size is pretty close to perfect.

Just seen this I will check in the morning and post my findings but I think it is soldered.

That’s what I figured but didn’t see it. Mine fell off and the jb weld I put on finally gave way.

 

I'll look it over close in the morning and see for sure, what drivetrain is in your scout?

It's a 345 with an auto 727 trans. The carbs is an edelbrock 1406

Ok cool same drivetrain mine came with. I ran an Edelbrock carb on my 345 for along time it seemed to like it best, I tried other carbs but it ran out the best.
