XXX until we can come up with a proper name for it at least...

This one is for a customer from down south. It's going to be GOOD fun! He looked our 5.3l Scout project ('77 Scout thread) over at Nationals, and contracted us to build one similar to it. He is, however, upping the ante a little bit with a 6.0l GM engine, and a few other tricks that we have thought up and talked about with him. It is going to be a WICKED cool Scout II!

So, rather than beginning with a tub that requires a lot of work, we sourced one from south Arizona, and it is N-I-C-E!! CRAZY how clean this tub is! We just got it Saturday off the trailer from Nate at Triple Diamond Transport, and I haven't cleaned the AZ dirt out o fit so far, but from what I see, I am impressed! More pictures will follow as we get it in the shop and get under it, but here are a few teasers:

Loading up (my tub is on the back of the trailer)...

As you can see, there is frighteningly little rust on this thing. Crazy! We are looking to get a scrap Scout in soon to free up a chassis for this project, and then we can start the fun with it. I vow to do a better job updating these build threads as we go along, too.;)

We're currently in the gathering stages of that. The customer, as well as us here, are looking for a deal on a 6.0 powertrain, or possibly even a complete Escalade or truck that has been totaled with low mileage. PM me of you have any leads!;)

    www.car-part.com Search 2500 HD's for 6.0/6.2l's. And 1/2 tons for the LQ9's and L76's.

The Caddys will have the LQ9/4l60e trans till 2007. The 07-up are 6.2L's!!! 6l80's

I would suggest a LQ4/9 and a 4l80e. Pretty much bullet proof trans if he is going to wheel it for sure. LQ4 add L92 heads and intake and a nasty cam and it will be 450-500hp easy!:hammer:

A little scraping, and a little rinsing...

The strangest thing happened...while rinsing it out, it HELD water. Odd, I tell ya! In the corners behind the seats, there is a little drain hole with a rubber plug in it...and I had to pop the plugs out for it to drain. I had never seen one of those before.

The least rustiest tub to ever enter the Scoutco realm? Don't go screwing it up by making seats "fit."

My Terra is almost that good but it needs some love soon!

This one will get some seats, for sure...but thus far we dunno what kinda seats...:tt2:;) The customer wanted to try to put the Suburban seats in there, but we nixed that idea. That was no fun whatsoever with the '77 we did.:nono:

Someone should contact a producer for the Velocity Channel. I picture an IH restoration reality show. Great subject matter, lots of .. uh ..'colorful' friends, and at least Jennifer is photogenic. Now how about a title for the show?????? Hmmmmm

    A. Guns-N- Scouts
    B. Big and Loud
C.Rust Never Sleeps (apologies to Neil Young)
    D. All of the above

Feel free to submit more series name ideas!

    Great ideas Dave!

I am not that creative, but I did see a sign that says it all. Perhaps the alternative name for Scoutco:

All the way complete to the recycled sign....

It only lacks bullet holes :gun_bandana:

The engine for this project was ordered today, after a lot of head-scratching (we're good at that, here!), planning, measuring and thinking...

We are now waiting on a GM crate LS3 and a 4L70E to arrive!:D 430HP, and it weighs in at 415 pounds. Fun. Lots of it.
