I was looking for something a bit out of the norm when I re-painted and re-furbed mine. It's a 1980 Scout II Traveler that started out life as a diesel manual and ended up as a gasoline automatic! It's got a 345 under the hood. I got a pretty messed up tail off of a '76 Scout II and fixed it up and painted it. It fit right on my Traveler with no modifications other than moving some bolts and latch posts around. Here's a link to the album that shows some of the rework: http://www.binderplanet.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=717
RD Where did you get your bikini top? I like the color you painted yours. Is that color factory or something esle you picked out?
Supermerle, Got the bikini from Bestops online. They make it for the Scout II. The color ended up being a shade of my own mix, but it was inspired by the Springmist Green off of a 1957 Ford Thunderbird convertible. My green has a bit more blue in it. It's a bit lighter than the original Mint green I've seen on some Scouts, though.
Here's a picture of my bumper I finished triming over the weekend. I painted it and installed some "D" rings on the front. One picture of the old look, also.
Supermerle, Impressive bumper! Really, really nice job. I've always wanted a winch but my wife objects....
1971 IH TravelAll 1210 4x2. Perkins T6.354 Diesel w/5-spd OD trans and Dana 70 4.10 gears. Fourth owner, always a Texas truck until I bought it.
Bought this 1797 Scout II last week after striking out in Levi1a's ebay listing. My wife already calls it "The Money Pit" I'm new to working on older trucks, so I'm going to delay the restoration until I can learn enough here to not screw it up completely!! I'm in Blytheville, AR and would love to meet some fellow Scout owners at a rally. I didn't see any listed, so if you know of one that's close please let me know.
Welcome to the BP as far as an IH gathering close by there is none, we've been working on it for a few years but haven't been able to get anything yet
