Hmmm, I don't know about "showing off", but here it is. I'll update this post as needed to show my (hopeful) progress.

What it was a few years ago:

Where it's been hiding the last couple years:

Cleaning out and organizing the garage has been a long process, but I can *almost* walk all the way around the Scout now... When I parked it, it needed a gas tank, carb rebuild, and some brake work. Last year I had the carb rebuilt, but who knows what else it needs now. :wrenching:

    The original...mom's old Scout!

    In it's prime, before SOA:

    After SOA:

...And the sorry shape it's in today:

I'm honestly thinking of building "this" Scout back as a SOA/RS, 36" tire'd Scout again. I will most likely rebody it with a good tub I have here, and re-chassis it with one that has my RS on it, and add a few more goodies while I have a bare chassis. This may be a future project for my son (currently 3 years old) and I. I have too many in front of it.:hammer:

Blackie has a thread all it's own, so I'll just link to it.

    Quick recap, though...

    In it's prime:

    Now:

But look through the linked thread...it's gonna be sweet. I gotta warn you though...there will be major changes to even what the thread states. Right now the plan is a Mustang II front suspension, 4 link rear, all air bagged, and the diesel's gotta go, too. Likely it will have either a slightly warmed over LT1 or LS1 and a 4L60E in it. We'll see what kinda money I have, when and if I ever get any time for it.

If I do the suspension like that, I'll swap frmes from the brown Scout above and this one. That way the brown Scout will have a shiny, pimped out frame, and Blackie will get one I don't mind hacking up for the new cushy suspension...then paint it all fancy-like, too.

R/T is my (almost) daily driver. It's the one with the LT1 and 700R4 in it already. I really, REALLY like this combo for a street driven Scout. It runs good, gets good mileage, and the "LT!" call outs on the fender make LOTS of folks ask questions at the gas station, Wal Mart, when we go out to eat, stoplights, etc. You can't take a bright orange Scout with "LT1" on the side anywhere without planning for a few minutes to pop the hood for folks. I don't have any good pics uploaded, but I will add some as soon as I get time to wash it and "pose".

This is Mike posing as Eddie...shhhhhhh:D

Here's "my" 1979 Scout II. I'm gonna get me one of them fancy Chevy motors for in mine soon! We painted it some fancy charcoal a few years ago, and I ain't got off my butt to do a dern thing to it since.
Here it is right after paint:

Here's the inside. We painted the dash to match the exterior, and sprayed SEM liner on the whole interior of the tub:

And here's a stripe we have planned for it. It will likely be silver and burgandy:

    Keith,
Boy...seeing that old Scout brings back memories! I know I talked to you a few years ago, but that's my old Scout! I've since acquired another 73, but that one was special! It was easy to spot with that rear bumper I made from a Nissan truck and the black hard top with the white stripes. FYI, I rebuilt that 345 motor around 1991-92. It was rebuilt stock, but I did put Stans headers and a Carter AFB 4bbl. carb on it. I look forward to seeing your restoration on this old Scout!
Attached is a b&w pic of your Scout when I owned it. The color pics are of the 73 SII I now own.

I'm in Stafford and just joined up with The Planet. 76 Scout II, 2bbl, 345. Ran until a little bit ago. Won't catch for more than a few sec. Replaced fuel filter, pump, and gas. Guess I'll work my way through the entire fuel system. Never did a carb, though. Maybe someday I'll be a Scout greybeard.

There was a like-new tailgate at Nationals back around 2000 or so. I remember it was big money! I doubt they're too easily stumbled onto, though.

My '79 Scout. [IMG] The doors don't shut, it protests moving itself, and is plumb scary to drive on the unmarked country road that I live on. HOWEVER, it's fun and keeps my interest going in Scout projects when I get the chance to drive it.

My '76 Scout/Pile-o-parts. [IMG] Might be a Scout again someday.

I don't have any pics of my '79 Tub-n-chassis with newly painted motor. None. I'll work on that eventually. The pics and the truck.

PS: Mike...you say you need that pesky diesel evicted from Blackie? I can help with that... :D

Here's my first 1978 Scout II, the Hawkmobile, in U. of Iowa colors followed by my just purchased ride for more agressive trailing in International Orange with copper striping. The latter 1980 Scout II has a Chevy 350, Muncie Speed Transmission in a fiberglass body and much more. My wife just doesn't understand why I had to have another Scout when I can only drive one at a time. Being able to look at two great vehicles togther and know they are both mine just doesn't compute for her as a turn on.

after too long of a wait, here's my recent addition. needs a few tweaks like a working fuel guage, some tank/filler/vent hose work, a rebuilt or new steering box and some seat belts and a seat cover for the rear bench seat. otherwise... photo.jpg

Here's a couple shots of My 76 Terra right after I drove her back to Stafford from Abilene Texas in May... and one of the Donor. I'm enjoying driving her for the moment while I prep all the parts coming off the 78 Donor, But in July the body is coming off for the rotisserie treatment....
