Hi I just recently picked up a 1967 scout that was insanely built and appeared in magazines but has since seen better days being new to scouts I had a few questions was hoping to get some education on.
1 why does it have 3 shifters
2 my motor is a 4cyl which seems small for the size axles and tires but It has 5:38 gears are there better motors for the scout
3 where can I find body parts for it and how do I get the rear body panels off the ones where the tail lights are

There are no steel replacements for the rear end caps for the 80s/800s. Fiberglass is avail. As far is I know.

67-71 800s were avail with a 266 or 304 I believe for V8 power. But modification to the core support has to be done I believe.

5.38s are likely fine what size are the tires.

It has 3 shifters because 1 is your gear shift.

2 is hi range shift and 3 is low range shift.

Google twin stick transfer cases and you will get it.

    Ps.

This thread is useless without pictures!

4 banger is most likely a 196. 3 sticks = transmission closest to driver; center = front axle. Forwards is out, rearwards is engaged; right = Hi and Low, forwards is low. DO NOT run in low rear wheel only! Should be Dana 20 transfer case, if not changed out.

Here is a couple of pics the current tires are 38x14.5x16.5
And I know the rear axle is a Dana 60 and front is a Dana 44 both have lockers and 5:38 gears
And the scout tops at like 45 to 50 mph
