This 1975 scout2 XLC just arrived today from Bend Oregon. has rust on rear quarters and dented fender...suppose to have a bad engine. 196. has sat since 2008. The floors, mounts, rockers inner and outer are fantastic. just replace rear quarters and fender is all it needs sheet metal wise. wierd color combo..green interior..yuk! but all and all really amazing all original rig!

i pulled valve cover everything looked ok, top end of engine noisey. runs good idols well but bad lifters??? upon pulling valve cover started it no oil coming to top end. sooooo...bad oil pump? Bad cam bearings...no idea how long it was run that way by previous owner...they did write on window "bad engine" maybe should just junque motor, hate to put a oil pump and it's still could be junque.

I pulled engine and installing another 196. the single speed t-case has a different bull gear connection. it's aluminum and front driveshaft is a different length than a standard one

couple more of it pulled and new donor engine. that picture is the drain plug out of the single speed. it actually is a magnet for metal shavings.

got nos rubber matting in it passenger and cargo area and got nice seats in it. i have cut rear quarters off to install new nos rear quarters and end caps. slowly coming along, one interesting thing, the drivers side when I removed the rear quarter, very evident the scout had been on fire at one time...it is completely black and charred and full of soot...like the rust proofing all caught fire and melted??? Even back of drivers taillight housing is burned up..

getting rear nos quarters on. Still don't understand with ten minutes of my welding requires 30 min of grinding :cornfused: so far I got interior in it with nos rubber matting. I don't have any blue seats so it's got black seats now. replacing body mount bushings today. target is to get painted next month. think I will be running a soft top on this scout. I got a white one with his and hers sunroof...
