    Its a 70 scout with a 304.

    Vac in connected on one side. other is loose. It is inline with the speedo cable.

    I've seen that before on 800's, I think it's a doomajig to vary the vacuum to your windshield wipers depending on speed. I don't see the wires that a cruise control should have....call it a vacuum regulator for the wipers.

    Cool thanks guys. I was thinking that but there is nothing in the cab or on the carb.

    What it did is when you let off of the gas,the vacume held the carb slightly open instead of slaming closed something about burning off gas,emitions type thing

    There are a few threads on this and it seems that the common consensus is that it chnges the timing in a decel mode.I'm not sure,I have had it on 3 IH's and it's stamped holley,but none of my carbs had a dashpot.

    I usually just remove it and put a one piece speedo cable in and remove the vacume lines.
    BTW I have never seen this past 1972. maybe 69-72.

    It is the road speed controlled timing device it bleeds off the vac advance to control NOx. Later versions are electric and control a solenoid. Their operation is fully documented in your FSM.
