This is my '79 Scout. I bought it from a guy in Michigan in Feb 2015 with only about 70,000 original miles. Apparently had spent most of its life in Arizona so it was in pretty decent shape although pretty basic. 345 V8 automatic 4x4. I bought it because when I was a kid back in the early 80s I used to own a 1980 Scout but I had to sell it when I returned to college - couldn't afford the payments going to school full-time and working part-time. Always regretted having to let it go. Since finding the '79 I've put a lot into it and I'm pretty happy with where she is now. Improvements include:

    New Flowmaster exhaust
    New shocks
    New Grant steering wheel
    New carpet
    New headliner
    New interior panels
    New Corbeau "Moab" bucket seats
    New black side view mirrors
    New stereo/CD player
    New TrailGear rock sliders
    New Bushwacker fender flares
    New bumper-mounted Unity fog lights
New "Shadow" stripe package in dark gray
    New American Racing AR62 wheels
Installed NOS 1980 grill (Thanks Rod MacDonnell @ ScoutPluss)
Installed 2-cup holder style Scout center console
    Painted roof rack black
    Painted bumpers black 5-28-2020 9-42-36 AM.jpg
    Assorted body/paint work.

Nice looking. Is that wood paneling in the back?

Yes. I made wood panels for the doors and sides. Also for gauge surround.

Nice looking Scout! I bet that NOS 80’ grille wasn’t cheap. Like buying a unicorn!
