    Looks really good.
Don't forget to pull the lower freeze plug on each head before installing the water pipes!

Thanks! I noticed that when I put my heads on.... took forever to find 1 3/8 freeze plug in the county i live in. Some threads I read said they were 1 5/8 plugs, but they are not... live and learn. I finally have the correct size and will install this week.

Body work...coating underside of tub with POR-15, and inside panels. First attempt of bondo, sanding, priming on my windshield frame. Also, first time using fiberglass to repair hole in floor.

Looking good! You're a true shade tree mechanic based on the pics (lots of trees and shade)! Whats the blue-green engine color choice?

Thanks! My wife isn’t happy about our backyard looking like a junkyard, but it’s only temporary. I’m going with a light sea foam green color with matte black trim for my finish... that was the closest color engine paint I could fine. We shall see how it turns out.

Rewired the scout last weekend using an American Autowire Power Plus 13 Kit from Summit ($250ish). It was time consuming, as I soldered each connection. I still have to connect lights and a few other loose ends.

Most deceiving picture Ive posted... this truck bed was grueling work. Had to use a grinder to grind every inch of the bed....bondo from previous owner and rust. I coated with POR-15. Will probably do a wood overlay over the bed. IMG_8878.jpg IMG_8877.jpg IMG_8874.jpg

In addition to the bed, I also worked on the front grill - painting inside of grill with POR-15 and primed the front. I finished wiring the headlight fixtures and tested them. I dont have pictures of the steering coupling, but I replaced it. Next up: new speedometer cable + I have to determine where the speedo input is - looks like a plug on the transmission meaning the input will be on the transfer case. Any opinions on location of speedo input?

I revamped my gauges with new white faceplate stickers and I cut lexan to fit where the glass was.
Next I installed reman brake power booster and new master cylinder and proportioning valve for the 4 new disc brakes.
Also, new throttle and kickdown linkage on the TBI.
Im almost ready to drive it. I have to bleed the brakes and then add the drive shaft and Im ready to take the scout for the first trip around the block.
