I have recently purchased a 1972 2010A Fleetstar grain truck. I'm not looking to restore it, just want to make the old girl haul! I would like to put a HEI style ignition system on it. I stumbled on that D.U.I kit and have read what other members on here think of it (overpriced for what you get). With all of that said, I don't have time to be rebuilding the current set up like some of you do on this forum (my hat goes off to you guys). The kit would be nice in my eyes as I could drop it right in and go (relatively speaking). So, my question is would the D.U.I. that is for the MV404 and MV446 also work on the LV478 or are they an entirely different engine?

    Thanks in advance!

    From a Pertonix dealer site:

    '64-'70 8 V8-478, 549 &FTV549 Engines w/ IHCOR Holley dist. #359228, 29, 31, or 32-C91 12 V
    negative ground

    Ignitor I 1482 $103.04 Ignitor II 91482 $144.62
So if you want to drop a Pertronix module in, you can. I wouldn't waste a dime on any DUI product. What's wrong with the points? Or is it a Gold Box? I'm not a fan of the Gold Box system either. If you do Pertronix, get their recommended coil too and you'll be set for a long time.
