This thread is for all to post serial number and Delivery date info for the WW2 International 6x6 trucks.
please stay on that topic in this thread. (thank you)
If you know the the service arm or branch such as USMC or Navy please include that info as well as if the truck is a cargo, dump, Long wheel base, Short wheel base or other type of body, chassis.
Also please include the regitration number if you have it.
The collection of this info is to help others fill in the blanks or give them an idea of the range in which there truck falls into for build date and registration numbers as well as to collect survivor numbers and change info such as for example trucks built with wood or metal beds and the date or even serial number that International changed over to installing wood beds. Collecting this change info will help those seeking to have there truck as factory correct as possible to do so.

    Thanks

Hi George. Where did you find a number on frame? I found one on a fire truck conversion, but it doesn't match dash plate number or make any sense. It was by the left front spring hanger on the ouside of the frame. Only on this one I found a number though, not on any of the other 4 or 5 I have. Thanks

    M5H6, Long wheel base
Seat tag, present but paint covered
    Dash plates, 2 1/2-3 ton 6x6 Radio, USN, IH M-5H-6-361, s/n 19629, dod 9-44.
Modified to Fire truck by Maxim Motor Co, their s/n 1570
Number stamped in frame by left front spring hanger 72-00256, another number stamped in frame same as dash tag, 19629
Round metal tag, 1 1/2" diameter, riveted to cab 4" ahead of drivers door and 6" below top hinge, 003889, SH276

How can I get the info off of the seat tag without destroying it?

First off, sorry to hanselandgretel for not paying any attention to this post for a long time. That frame number seems all off to me that you found. I've never seen one without the frame number and they are quite large by todays standards. All are stamped by the left front spring hanger.
Not sure how to get info from the plates either without damage.

    On to my latest treasure:

    M5h6
    serial # 29647
    DOD 6-45
    USMC cargo
    LWB--no bed left

Re: M-5-6 M-5-4 and M-5H-6 SN and Date of Delivery Registry

I am parting and scraping several trucks and I will add their frame numbers here to the registry as I do it.
If I sell the frame or rolling chassis as a part I will leave it up to the new owners to add them here. I am doing this in hopes that we will get a list of trucks that have been found and what there status is.
I am also making this a sticky note so it will be at the top of the list where others can find it easily and add there M-5H-6 trucks to the list and the status such as Parted and scraped, under going active work to get it back on the road or sitting waiting for work to begin.
So please add your truck here no matter the status or final plan for it.

Re: M-5-6 M-5-4 and M-5H-6 SN and Date of Delivery Registry

I have been working on parting some M5's and the first one that is going to the metal eater is the one pictured here serial number 11279, it was built as a USN tractor on a contract of 220 and although you can just makeout the engraving on the data plate I believe it says 1943.
As you can see I took everything I could get that was not FUBAR'ed.
The frame was cracked and repaired in many places and the winch horns removed and then added back. The motor is a RD501 down draft.
I am not taking the cab as the back is roached at the bottom and their are numerous big dents and holes. This truck sometime in its 70 year lifespan had it ujoints and yokes changed over to Spicer from Mechanics. I saved the yokes that were there and the drivlines.

Cargo (WOW, despite tag indicating otherwise, perhaps removed?)

Was purchased from Ft. McCoy in Wisconsin in the 1950s with a well-drilling rig on back. When I found it, it had a Belt-Link crane on it, now it is bare frame. I believe the wheel base has also been extended. Has a civilian K/KB cab, civilian gauges, etc. Still has original air compressor fully functioning.

    My latest M5H6.

Serial number 27697. 1125161319_resized.jpg taken from frame. glove box door with data plate was moved to the civilian cab on it, but so rusted I can't read any of it.
149" wheelbase. Frame pretty compromised, will likely end up as a parts truck.
