The good thing about dollar general is you dont have to dress up to go there like you do when you go to walmart..

basically all the electric part of the stock tank switch just sends signal to the sending units to energize them so the gauge can read the sender, and all the cable does is push or pull the cable to manually switch the tanks.

You obviously the FV 5 used on Fords '74-'94:

    and the control cable:

I put a solenoid in line to make it work. Here is pics:

Ahhhhh....OK. So the fuel selector valve has some switching internally to make the fuel gauge sender magic happen. Nice. And then you use a relay to provide enough juice.

The sending unit itself only energizes one way, in other words, default is non powered just in case you blow a fuse or something, you (in theory if you have fuel in the default tank) it goes there.

Still waiting on heads. I did pull it out of the shop yesterday so that I could sweep my water jackets up off the floor :/

Looks like the Gunk/Prestone product is the front runner so far. All of the rust has dissolved including the large chunks while the ThermoCure is not moving along so fast...

HAHAHA well, thats a fact. I was hoping to have this thing on its hooves. I took a load of scrap off yesterday with my 100 and the old guy there was like, this is a nice truck too but where is your fire truck??

I did find this crusty Nissan screw jack buried in the cab of a parts truck, it was under all of this:

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]
It has been soaking in Evap O Rust for several days, I did get it to actually go into itself so now it is completely submerged. I have several of these and they are awesome jacks.

Unless there are miracles contained within that jug of Evaporust, I'm afraid that jack has been modified by the elements and the passage of time into a non-adjustable jack stand. That is REALLY rusty, JJ.

Haven't heard from the machine shop, I will give them until tomorrow on my heads but meanwhile........

The poor old springs are pretty flat, and the truck is saggy. When I put this thing together 10 years ago, I did rebuild the spring packs half ass with a set that I had gotten of Bay for a Travelall. That amounted to using most of the Travelall springs mixed with the ones that were under the truck which were not good then. Since this is all on a non-exsistant budget, if its free its ME!

The stance of the firetruck really shows its sadness

The '75 parts truck, it is nearly stripped and will be headed to scrap in the not too distant future. Off to China to come back as Brillo pads and patio furniture. I cut the bottom of the fender off for its stock indented fuel fill for my '73 Travelette project that is lurking nearby (Yes yet another one coming at some point HAHA)

    Compare:

    [IMG][IMG]

They are a bit crusty, once I get them off Ill decide if I am going to just scuff and paint or go all wack like I did on my '76 Scout and take them all apart. I do recognize that there is the weight of an engine not in the bay, but it still stands a good inch or two taller then the other.

Yet another IH logo appears out of the ashes (this one is for you Greg)

Ive been away for the last 8 days at our Colorado house, of course the machine shop called me the day I left with "your heads are done".

I'll be making my once a week trip to town tomorrow anyway, and will pick them up. Here is todays work, cleaning up the pushrods.

I also have a new friend, I named him "Gil", Lifesaver as a size comparison. Dew was not happy to have to leave the shop, but it was better for both of them as Dew has a way of playing with creatures until they die. Gil was making his way across the concrete floor, we hung for a few, then he was placed outside to do turtle stuff.
