The alternator, voltage relay, or wiring died on my 1980 scout with Nissan diesel.

Amp meter on dash that usually reads charging a bit started reading to discharge a little. Few days days later almost dead battery...

I want to check out the alternator before swapping it out if possible (it has power to the big sperate wire)

The scout starts and holds charge after charging battery with battery charger.

    I have a spare alternator ... Somewhere...

    Thanks!

I removed alternator and found the wire strap vibrated/burned in to behind the seperate big wire bolt. Soldered on a wire to come out hole where bolt was (moved extra wire that was crimped to strap on inside now tees in outside of case)

    All works well now!
