    Hi All -

New to the forum and as of this Saturday will be new to the Scout ownership experience. Very excited.

Was hoping someone could point me in the right direction re: good mechanic around the central Phoenix area (live @ Camelback and 36th street). Picking up a Scout II that needs some carb work, new brake booster/master cylinder and leaking valve covers addressed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had work done on my Scout II by Ted & Bob's 66 Service at 16th Street and Maryland a couple years back. The address is 6502 North 16th Street Phoenix, AZ 85016. They replaced my fan clutch, and a few other minor things. Reasonably priced. Nice guys!

If you're willing to drive a bit further, I can also recommend Carmel Automotive at 19th Ave and Thunderbird - 1901 West Thunderbird Road, Phoenix, AZ 85023. One of the guys there, Lawrence, knows carb work top to bottom. Last year, Lawrence rebuilt and rejetted my Scout's carb and installed a new Petronix system. Worth every penny!

If you're looking to learn more about your Scout, and get a little dirty in the process, there's plenty of guys here that would likely help ya out for some beer or soda and pizza.

If you'd rather just pay someone else to do it (not that there's anything wrong with that..I know the older I get, the less I want to wrench and the more likely I am to let someone else deal with it, lol), then no clue, but I'd be willing to trust wyndfire's suggestions :)

If your willing to come out to the east side of town there is a Scout specialist shop. Canyonoffroad.com is the page with the info on it. I know you said central, but this is what they work on day in and day out.

Welcome to the Forum! Another suggestion... come to the next Sonora Desert Scouts meeting on Feb 12 at Monkeypants in Tempe. You'll meet lots of nice IH folks and you can talk shop about your new acquisition.
Also consider coming to the Arizona IH Rendezvous at Catalina State Park in Oro Valley on March 1-3. You can get details at the SDS meeting.

Absolutely Roy, thank you for the invitation. Looking forward to meeting everyone and getting going on my project! Am going to start a new thread showcasing my recent acquisition - something tells me many in the club will already know my rig!

FWIW, I haven't had work done by fife, but I've bought parts off him. He's a super nice/knowledgeable guy. I wouldn't hesitate to have him work on my scout.

I’m wondering if anyone has recommendations in Phoenix area for sheet metal/ fender body mounts etc replacement.
