Thanks Greg! I’m quite fond of it
It really does. Glad it finally warmed up for you and that it got to see daylight.
Stay safe up there.
Hard for me to do, but I guess I'll have to eat my words about driving Gold Digger. Glad you finally got to take him out and what a sweet ride that is.
Now you need to fix your side view mirror and speedometer . Then, maybe then, I'll be truly impressed. No, I'm already truly impressed!
Kind words from a man named Ed thanks my friend!
There's the pictures I've been waiting for! Looks great out in the sun. The buffed up original paint looks great, like it's been loved and cared for but also enjoyed, and those rallye's look just right on it!
Josh. ..I don't know if you've ever had one of those mirrors apart or not ....I had one that was loose like that...I soaked it face down in mineral spirits for a day or so and the glass came right out..its just held in by silicone...then there is a little strap piece across the pivot ball with a rivet on each end ..I took a flat punch and hammer to the rivet and it tightened up nice,,,
Yes sir! Very pleased thanks for the kind remarks
It’s on the list Greg! Tough to balance fishing and Scouts at the moment....
I guess you need more time off from work?
I do declare...is that a short sleeve shirt your a wearing?..... that's a nice bigmouth you got !!!!!
I really would like to get the boat out but I'm trying to make some headway on this truck
We hit 80 yesterday and now they’re calling for frost again with lows in the 20s wtf
I am SOOOOOO jealous. It looks so good. I want one of these little scouts very, vey badly.
I’ve been so lazy, while you’ve been so productive! Ebbs and flows bro
I was sick for about 3 weeks, and out for a couple more. It's only been recently that a 4 hour stint in the shop "appears" productive. Hope you're doing well
I was sick too, but lately I’ve been working and fishing. I’m fine now thanks! Just covid fat.
Spring is here, feels like summer though! Gold Digger got some weekend attention. First order of business was a new used Speedo. Dug through the trash and found a speedometer off of a local Wisconsin scout I saved parts from years back. Cleaned up the bezel and wrestled with the gauge panel, getting my wrists all cut up, and there she be. For how rust free GD is, the gauge bezels sure are trashed! I’ll eventually swap them out with better one I think.
The trash find....
All cleaned up!
Trash?...yeah right..!!....but that cleaned up real nice..!
Like I said it’s not perfect but it’s better than what I had. I decided to get risky and take GD for a spin on the freeway. Did 80 mph pretty easily and smooth, no pulling, tracked great! Sadly the speedo is only accurate to about 40 mph, but I’ll take it.
Also finally got around to changing out the license plates for something a little more fitting to the patina of GD
Maybe Jay will finally quit teasing me? Probably not!
Nice plates...can you run yom plates in Illinois?
Yes Mongo in Illinois, you can register year correct plates. I know other states do as well, not sure which?
Had a great weekend drive, lots of firsts, 80 mph the biggie and feeling the hwy drivability was reassuring. Next step will be a longer cruise. I only put about 5 miles on GD this go round.
Stopped in the “nicer” neighborhood and took some pictures, love the stance of this Scout! Owner came out to chat and he loved it too.... be safe everyone
