Hey everyone, I am new, both to Scouts and web site. I live in Gainesville, FL, and was wondering if anyone else was near me. So far seems like all the IH folks are waaaay out west. Kinda lonely for us southern boys. :)

There is two (I think) members from Florida. Can't seem to recall their names. Mike Toney will know, he has the list of everyone involved.

    Few and far between

I'm stuck here in redneck ( I can say that cause I was raised on a farm in southeast Alabama) paradise in Panama City. I've been trying to get around to joining DeepSouth Scouts for the past year. I am hoping that by the summer I'll have my 345 running again and back in my Scout II. Maybe mikeinmobile and his group will have some kind of meeting I could attend. I've seen only 4 other scouts in a 200 mile range from here. one belongs to a guy working in a pawn shop near here and the other one belongs to someone in the airforce near here I think? A third belonged to a guy I knew up in Dothan, Alabama several years ago but he has since sold it. Any way its good to know that I'm not the only one with this obsesive/compulsive IHC thing going on. Mike if you read this send me some info on club fees and dues if you do'nt mind.

    Also in Florida

I am over in Jacksonville, not a member of the Deepsouth gang, but watch this and the older board pretty frequently. There are a few Scouts driving around N. Florida, don't know if they are on this board or not. I have exchanged smiles and waves driving around in Jacksonville traffic.

I'm here in Tampa. Sometimes I think I'm the only TampeƱo that visits the BB. Another BB regular, Jason Waters is close by, somewhere around Hudson or so; we haven't yet met. I'm not a member of Deep South Scouts. I'm a bit far away to attend most functions and be a constructive member, so I haven't bothered to join. Maybe we should start Sunstate Scouts as a Florida club or a chapter of Deep South Scouts. Anybody got time to administer and coordinate such a thing? Regardless, it would be great to hook up with any local IH'ers for parts, ideas, maybe the occasional offroad outing.

I haven't been to BB in awhile. I live in the Tampa area also, but the Air Force keeps me gone most of the time and my 76 Scout has been sitting in the garage for the past 2 years. It runs but not so good right now  . Hopefully this summer I will get the chance to get it running properly. I got it out in Oklahoma 5 years ago and it is in pretty good shape. It's been a shame to keep it the garage for so long.

I wouldn't be opposed to heading up such an effort. And I propose we have an introductory get together this summer at Ocala Nat.'l Forest, which is supposed to have good trails (free to the public, I think), and is relatively central to Tampa, Jax, etc.. Anyone interested Email me.

Michael' was very close, New Port Richey (right next to Hudson).

    Basically, Tampa Bay Area.

I've never been up to Ocala National Forest, is there some place we could do a grill out like burgers/dogs?

My schedule is always crazy but if I am free, this is somthing I'd like to do as it's hard for me to go to the Nats (I have been a few times)

I don't care where I'm at, I GRILL. Me and a friend spent two weeks on my sailboat in Bimini last summer, and we cooked every meal on my little Weber grill. I don't see any reason why that grill won't work just as well in a Scout as it does in a boat.

Yea, id be up for a meet at onf. Im also on the "florida jeepers forum" and they just had a BIG meet there 2 or 3 weeks ago. Meaning more then 60 jeeps and over 140 (i think) people. I can get the info the guys used if you all would like. They went from friday to sunday and stayed at a camp ground. Im sure i could even get a few jeeps to go up there too if you wanted to have a few more people to ride with.

    Well,

Not trying to being weird, but I have a stock Scout and really don't want to ride, at least not in my Scout. I would like to meet fellow IH'ers and have a good time.

Isn't there a gun range there too, so some people could do that too? Responsibly, of course. That could be fun too for those that don't want to ride.

Ocala Nat'l Forest has a DNR sponsored range, which I here is free. You won't be lonely, as my Ruger .357 will be there too. :D

My Scout has a dashboard gunrack,
