    Hi everyone,

I am looking for some input on electric wiper conversion kits. I saw some old threads talking about marine application ones, but not having luck finding anything individually.

I'd prefer a kit that doesn't require much mods (if any), so does anyone have one they would recommend?

I’ll assume this is for an S80 that has the vacuum wipers.
I put some cheap generic marine electric ones on mine and was disappointed. I upgraded to mid level Ongaro (sp ?) units and am still not happy with them. If you plan on really needing them in hard rain/snow/ice I would suggest buying the best ones that you can find/afford. They seem to be a “get what you pay for” kind of item.

    Hi
My 60s Scout had the vacuum units when I got it, but never had them running. I shopped around wreckers and found some from Daihatsu parts that I modified to suit. Suzuki also had a version over the top wiper that would work without too much modifications.
But if you want a plug and play version companies (I'm in Australia, so Flexi Drive Industries is an example) that supply to the crane / odd vehicle makers have kits to suit generic setups.
Search locally for companies that make custom cables for throttles, clutches etc they seem to deal in these parts. You can imagine all the odd vehicles at airports or that work on roads that have custom cabs etc
    Hope that helps
    Steve

OP, you really need to state what you are putting wipers in, and that will help us, help you significantly.

Others have made the assumption that you have a Scout 80, but, based on your SR2 user name, I'm headed the other direction, and I'm making the assumption that you want/need electric conversion wipers for a Scout 800/a/b.

If this is a correct assumption, myself, and many others here have gone with New Port electric wiper kit. Available here from one of our IH dealers:

    https://dandcextreme.com/product/scout-800-electric-windshield-wiper-conversion-kit/

Or direct from the source - New Port:

    https://newportwipers.com/product/1965-71-international-scout-800/#wiper-motor

I've had mine installed for several years now, and it beats the you-know-what out of the OEM vaccuum powered ones. At least IMHO.

I haven't installed mine yet but have gone the dual marine wiper way. There are several threads on BP on how to do this. The one caveat is that the wipers start out in sync but will probably end out not in sync. Otherwise the swap looks fairly straightforward. The wipers come up on fleabay quite often at a reasonable price. If you can't find the threads or need more info pm me. The conversion kits mentioned above appear excellent but they are outside my price range.

If you have a S800 then the Newport kit is really nice and easy to install. I put one in on my 70 SR2 when I was rewriting it.

I was going to start a thread on this too! Recently I was pulling a dash and found an interesting modification on my scout, had no idea it was there.....

Interesting! Any idea of what the part number is? I assume they fit under the dash but would the defroster vent channel fit around it?

They fit behind the 800 dash with room to spare. I tested one motor it worked. Not sure on part number I can get more info.

And yes they fit behind the dash, with the defrost tube/vent/channel in stock position as far as I can tell...

Too late for me but this is interesting. Maybe you should post it in the parts for sale section.

800Bman, there is a set of NOS wiper motors that appear very similar to yours on eBay. $300.

So give us a heads up Josh. I see that eBay link, and those are pretty pricy.

How do your's work? Are they better than that New Port kit that many of us are using on our 800's ?

    I

Even though my intent was not to post here to sell them, that’s how it worked out. These are getting sent out shortly to Mr. New Sr2.
