Lol! It’s a build thread – going to be some of that I guess.

Got some 800 dash love for you today (plus some other goodies I’ll show off later   ) from ScoutCo.

I trust that you intend on keeping said DOW chart with/in your Scout, even though it may be a bit more appropriate for my elevation! Maybe I'm just a sucker for nostalgic paraphernalia but it might tie together the new and old?

 I did try to find a copy of it on the internet but no hits. I saved it so will have to have to duplicate it!
Just a whole lot of scratching going on here now! :ninja:

I'm lucky to be spending at least part of Fathers Day working on Scouts! Hope you all have a good one too!

    Jay,

The mirrors are :bananrap:! However, I noticed that they are convex...I work for a custom truck manufacturer so I need to be aware of some of the CFR’s. The driver side mirror must be flat (meet the unit magnification requirement...aka no magnification...what you see is what you get for distance perception).

However, a convex mirror on the passenger side is acceptable as long as:
    1) Your center rear view mirror also meets the unit magnification requirement (flat mirror).
    2) The convex curvature is between 889mm and 1651mm and have lettering “Objects In Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear” between 4.8mm and 6.4mm.

I am hoping that Rigid has a flat replacement for the driver side.

I have to worry about this stuff for my build because it hasn’t been registered in decades. Good luck.

    Ken

I'm not sure if they offer a flat mirror. I'm luck to be in a state that does not inspect! Might want to give them a call if you are interested in using them as they are selling a mount for the Heep now.

Glad this hurtle is over with! Want thank all the builders who have shared their paint experience here on BP especially BigRig’s build thread and his timely write up on TCP Global. Very helpful!! A special thanks to 800bman, who was on speed dial, for helping me with sage advise and instruction from body work to paint! Without it I’m sure it would not have come out as nice as it did. :thumbs up: :thumbs up:

    Some in progress pics.

Man, every time I look at you build it just amazes me. I can't wait to see the finished Scout. You build is an inspiration to me to kick it up a notch! Keep us posted.

Thanks! I have to admit I almost shed a tear too when I finished painting that last section! So relieved!!
Thanks, and Project Double D's has done the exact same thing for us!!! I'm sure you can pick out some influences!!
Dang it I have bag grammar!! Lol! Thanks so much for everything! Main thing is we are having fun building these old Scouts!!!

Well, I have to admit I have task overload! Where to begin? I did put a few things together that I have been itching to see!

Started the wiring in the bumpers and applied the decals we got from ScoutCo. I think Jennifer thought we were crazy ordering two different colors for the tailgate lettering! They nailed the colors!

Also started putting the dash together.

If you’re really finished with this rig can you please go out and purchase 2 more rigs so I don’t have to stop reading.

Lol! I appreciate it but if I get another one, right now, I might be homeless!! Krats is waiting for me however and I can’t wait to get started on it!

One item I spent a little time looking for when completing the dash was the glovebox door rubber bumpers. This one arrived without any installed and was rattling away when we took it on its pre-build drive. Looked at all the vendor’s websites but was only able to find what I believe to be the original style bumper here. A little pricy so found this substitute.

Had to drill the hole out slightly and use some lube to get it in place but a cheap alternative!

Jeez, I think I need to go out of town more often as when I do come back, I'm usually surprised by another update that blows my mind! Nicely done Sir!

And at some $25 and change for a damn bumper stop, I think I would just use a dab of black silicon rubber (if you didn't find a more reasonable alternative)!

Whew. I forgot you had already started another. Btw that bumper doesn’t really look good on this rig. I recommend building a more suitable version and shipping that pos over to me. Just a thought.

    Thanks Ed!!
Sorry! Click the first picture in that post for the link to some bumpers at $4.99 for a pair. Silicone not required! :)
They do look a little funny – I need to re-design those! Shipping would be killer however ;)
Thanks! :thumbs up: I was a little hesitant to do it but glad I did now! I did use the extra air flow in that area for some tranny and steering fluid coolers.

Repairing and installing front end items this weekend to get the electrical a little further along but we did take a minute to try and figure out what emblems would look best in the grill.

    No emblem

    I personally like this one.

But the ladies here are liking this one the best. Probably would look better with the aluminum radiator behind it.

    Not 100% certain yet…..
