I first learned about Clecos when I was in the Air Force... I couldn’t have done all that I’ve done by myself without them...

Got all the welds done on the top side, got a few on the bottom to take care of, then it’s getting primed.

After that, it’s on to the front pans...

Finally got some shop time in today. Started the demo of the drivers side floor...

Got a lot of PO “fixes” to fix...

The front part of that tub looks to be in good shape. Are the rockers as solid as they look?

Rockers are solid. Got to replace the cab mount though... floor supports are good also. The P.O. did a hack job in numerous spots, so the pans get replaced and have to do a couple doglegs...

Got the rest of the driver’s side pan out...

This is why the cab mounts get rusted out... all kinds of debris catching moisture traps built in from the factory...

Cut out the previous owner’s hack job of attempted sheet metal repair and test fit some patch panels...

The cab mount wedge looks to be in decent shape. I have a replacement, but I think this is salvageable.

Test fit the new floor pan. Still have a rear dogleg to cut out, will tackle that today along with some more test fitting pieces...

Coop - that floor removal looks really clean.
For my future planning - did you locate and drill out a bunch of spot welds to get there?

    Thanks!

That’s exactly what I did... Cut the floor out in sections. Made it easier to find the welds. Started at the rocker, using a panel splitter to find the welds, then drilled the welds out with a spot weld cutter.

    Panel splitters:

    Spot weld cutters:

Took out a section from the rocker to just before the floor braces meet the floor, there’s a pretty good space there. Cut the floor out between the braces, and then used the splitter to find the welds in the braces. Left about a one inch lip of old floor on the tunnel side for the new pan to set on...

Cutoff wheels and and weld grinding wheels are a big help too... especially when cutting out doglegs...

Fitting up the inner dogleg patch panels...

Once these are done, I’ll be able to install the cab mount and then the floor pan.

Finally got some work done on the Beast... Work has been extremely busy, and we’ve been in the process of acquiring some property and building a big garage with an apartment over it down at the wife’s hometown.

Finally got the dog leg patches welded in!

    Coop!

Just went through your build! Awesome job. Thanks for taking all the reassembly photos of the frame and drivetrain!

I printed them all off to help me in my brake, fuel line locations etc.

Thanks punjig! Hoping to get the floor pan in this weekend, then start on the other side. Slowly getting down to the bones of the elephant!

Thanks winchested! Glad it’s of help to you. Let me know if you have any questions. The stock routing was along the side of the frame, I ran them on top thinking they’d be better protected...

Got the driver’s side floor pan in, finally...

Using a plastic hole plug to cover the body mount access hole...

Next task is replacing the passenger side floor pan and rear doglegs.

The P.O. really did a number on the passenger side floor...

Got most of it cut out. Going to have to replace the front cab mount, inner and outer rear doglegs (that were already not there...) and repair the kick panel...

Finding out that a 3/8” mini belt sander makes short work of taking out spot welds. A lot easier than a spot weld drill...
