I am trying to figure out what the box on the firewall is on a '77 Scout II, it looks like a smaller version of a gold-box control module with some vaccum lines going to it if you take it off you can see one of the green circuit boards on the back side I dont have a picture of one right now but if nobody knows what it is from my description I can get one

It is most likely the deceleration module it keeps the throttle open slightly when decelerating from above a certain RPM to limit emissions. If you look you may find some faint printing that says 8cyl.

its for one of my customers and it looks a little different, hes going to bring it back by and let me take a pic of it, its a metal box with the rounded corners like the goldbox control module but its a little smaller with vaccum lines going to it I looked and none of my Scouts have it:confused:

so try napa, or any other auto store.
if you look at the module youll find a part number and manufacturer, and then its easy.
all they were for is to lower the exhaust emissions- so the throttle couldnt slam shut on decel and cause extra HC [ I believe] into the exhaust.

whats wrong with that one on the vehicle?
