I want to install some door jamb switches for an interior light. Has anyone done this? Wondering on best place for the switch and best wire routing.

Right now I am thinking of putting the swiches in the door and running the wire exposed along with my speaker wires.

    Any input??
    Thanks -Henry

The 800 sportop had door jamb switches from the factory. They are on the normal place of any car, on the body part of the jamb. That is where I put them, had the fenders off when I did this.

My scout had factory switches, can take pics of the location or give you some measurements if you need. If I recall correctly the wires came through about 4" above the floor vent through both sides of the worm trap, and it was a straight shot to the switch in the door jam.

So its looking like, for easiest way to drill and run wires the fenders will have to come off...

I've been considering the same thing. I like your thought of having the switches in the door. That way if you run with the doors off, it's no big deal because the wire is disconnected.
Will look forward to seeing how you do this.

its put in the jamb on hinge side of door opening
easy enough to runa wire thru to back end of the switch before you thread it in.
a lot easier to just put a toggle switch on the dash..
