"AN" fitting size questions

I am looking at replacing my fuel line with Earls Super Stock fuel hose. The hose sizes are listed as AN -06, -08 etc... I am not familiar with AN sizes. What size would I use to replace my fuel line? Also what size and thread is the fuel inlet on the stock mechanical fuel pump? You can see the hose I'm talking about HERE

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe AN hose sizes are in 1/16" increments. So, an AN 6 hose would be 6/16" or 3/8" ID.

 

Thanks TORC! Where are you in K.C.? I make it out to Lee's Summit to visit the in-laws every few months. In 10 years I don't think I've seen another Scout out there.

Be sure to read the fine print on the what that particular hose is ment to use as ends. If you go into a race shop or something saying you need -AN fittings you will get something different than what that hose is ment to use. When you find out what size you need for your fuel pump you should be able to get a adapter in one of the hose ends it mentions.

I use to be a big user of AN fittings, but even a small project would run $100-200! There are hydraulic fittings that are 37* bevel seat just like AN stuff but there made out of steel ( JIC fittings)! There 10x less expensive and are stronger! The hose is GoodYear Insta Grip that is better made than the Earls SS hose and 1/2 the price!( 300 psi working pressure)

If this goes like I hope it does (it probably won't!) the only fitting I'll need is a male flare to hose barb at the pump. I'm planning on running the hose from the sending unit to an inline filter out of the filter to the aforementioned fitting at the pump.

By passes are normally in the filter. I made a plate to feed the filter/cooler system.
