The hubs on the 800a I bought recently don't seem to lock. I can turn them to lock and nothing seems to happen. They turn from unlock to lock and back easily but they don't appear to be engaging. With the wheels off the ground there is no difference one way or the other.

This doesn't seem normal, but maybe it is I'm not real familiar with locking hubs. If they are screwed up should I rebuild/repair or buy new??

    Thanks

I would be surprised if both hubs were bad. Take one apart and check it out. Are they original?

Did you jack the truck up and try.If you lock both hubs in and turn the front drive shaft, one of them should turn.If you just lock them in on the ground, you shouldnt be able to turn the front shaft. You could have bad hubs, broken shafts/ujoints.

The hubs appear to be original.

I will try locking them and turning the driveshaft or jack it up and turn the wheels.

On the chance that they are bad, should I rebuild or replace them. If replace what do you suggest? This truck will never see any off roading, but will be flat towed.

    Thanks, Terry

Warn sells a servicing kit. It's pretty easy to do and a great learning experience. I did mine last week.

    JP,

Thanks, if it turns out they're bad I'll get a kit and rebuild them. I just wasn't sure if it was better to replace or not. I don't know much (nothing) about the hubs.

    Terry
