    Hello All,

    I'm working on an 1965 International Scout 80. '

Writing to ask if its possible to run a centered Dana 44 with the stock T90 3 speed / Spicer 18 Transfer Case, if I get a custom length driveshaft made?

Or is it necessary to use a rear axle that has the pumpkin on the passengers side like a passenger side offset Dana 27 / 30 / or 44?

    Thanks!

    -Ian

I recently asked this same question and was told you can , you may have some drive shaft vibrations. Also current drive shaft may work because offset and additional d44 extension on center output.

I have a T90 with a Dana 44 in the rear on my 63 Scout and I'm pretty sure it's centered. I'll give it a check tomorrow. I bought the truck like that, so I don't know what needed to be done. Nothing is drastically different though.

Yes, I did it. It was a long time ago, but I don't remember any problems.

It still has the Dana 18 transfer case?

I have had two different transfer cases (and two T90s) in this truck. The first I believe was a Dana 20. It had the rear output shaft behind the transmission. The other, which it has now, has the rear output shaft off to the passenger side. If I remember correctly, that makes it a Dana 18. Both of them mated to the Dana 44 rear. I did have to get a longer driveshaft when I swapped in the Dana 18 transfer case, but it runs nice and smooth.

I looked under the truck today. I had it backward. Originally it had the Dana 18, and I put in a Dana 20. Here are some photos of the setup as it sits now with the Dana 20. When it had the Dana 18, there was no problem with vibrations or angles. It just needed a longer driveshaft to reach to the Dana 18 output.
