I've been watching the weather app on my i-device the last few days, and unfortunately, it is showing rain for both this Friday and Saturday, surrounded by nice days. Fingers crossed that the bad weather passes completely, or at least slides into next week. If you do end up having to cancel due to weather, for those of us that are traveling several hours to arrive, requesting HCB please share any cancellation soon than later. Thank you,
If you look at total rainfall forecasted, only .5” total for Friday night. Although it might “rain”, it doesn’t look like a turd floater. More like a drizzle/light rain. The wifey bought me a 20’x30’ tarp today so we can all park under it if it gets bad. I’m going no matter what. I’ve got too much blood, sweat, and tears in this rig to stay home. We will be watching the weather closely and will call HFAP Thursday morning and if it is eminently a washout, we’ll call it late Thursday. But I’m still going to run the park roads in the mud.
From weather.com for Marble Falls TX. SAT APR 21 Thunderstorms 73°57° 80% SSE 11 mph 89% Thunderstorms likely. A few storms may be severe. High 73F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 80%. We have postponed before. My only concern with postponing is the Kindbergs and John Glancy coming from way out of town, both with raffle prizes.
We got very wet in the tent on Saturday night last October at Hidden Falls. We camp all the time and the last time we got wet before Hidden Falls was at Zion National Park when backpacking about 30 years ago. Saturday night wouldn't be so bad but Friday night would be if everything was wet for Saturday night.
I called Hidden Falls Ad park and they said they have no plans to close. I'll check again on Thursday and Friday morning when I arrive. But unless a tornado is coming through, I see no reason to cancel. Bring your rain coats and boots.
