Ok. According to the service manual, the brown wire coming off of the gold box goes to the negative side of the coil correct (16E)? The red wire goes to the positive side (16d)? Also according to the diagram, to wire coming out of the BHC goes to the positive side as well. It has a fork connector and a pig tail coming off of it. No idea where that goes. Then there is another wire that comes out of the BHC with that one that has a male/female disconnect and a male pig tail. No idea where that goes. Nothing that I can see that it connects to.

Got all that. Everything else checks out. No spark. The previous owner though he'd do me a favor by changing plugs and wires, but knocked the wires off of the coil somehow.

Brand new battery. New coil. Cap, button, wires. Air gap on the pick up is
.008. All known wires that were going to the coil prior to my intervention are there. New gold box for giggles and a spare if needed. Truck was running before. What am I missing? Photos attached to show the wires coming out of the bulk head. [IMG][IMG]

That yellow butt connector is a recipe for an imminent vehicle fire!

Exactly! The Scout is doing you a favor right now by not letting you start it with some of that ugly ass wiring attached to that BHC. I'd not leave it unattended with the battery hooked up until you do some more house keeping.

I believe that male/female plug went to some kind of emissions control? I cut mine out and with the ignition wire (#16) bypassed the BHC completely; reconnected via a heat shrink solder connector.

I'm clear on the yellow butt connector. Just need to verify I have the right wires going to the coil

You said you had wiring diagram in manual, just trace it wire for wire, the manual will help troubleshoot.I see you have the top bulkhead connector removed, anything in there needed.I don't have anything with gold box,so I don't know the wiring.
