I have a 1970 Cub Cadet 127 with a 12 hp. Kohler engine. I noticed a lot of blow-by smoke coming from the dipstick tube yesterday. I checked the breather and it was clear. What would be causing this? There is no smoke coming from the exhaust.

Thanks. I thought that might be the cause, but I would have thought it would be blowing blue smoke out the exhaust. Running fine, otherwise.

I would just keep checking oil and running it.It comes out the exhaust when the valve stems leak.Your blowing compretion from the pistons past the rings, that is pressurizing your crank case and casing it to come out where it is.
On a side note ,I was over your way 2 weeks ago, right down 519,over to done levy area.

I'm about 2 miles from 519. How do you like the double roundabout? My Metro finally ventured out on the road for the first time today; probably the first time since 1991. Just a short drive of about a mile; so far, so good.

Nothing feels as good as the first VICTORY lap after fixing something, especially when you make it back home, with nothing new broken and under your own power.

Sorry, I got side-tracked for a minute. You might try changing the oil and using a heavier weight, that may help for a while.
