i just scored a 1969 Travelette that has been in my buddy’s family since it was special ordered. I’m new to IH and trying to catch up. What size brakes does this thing have. The service manual has a million options, i will be tearing into it this weekend to find out for sure. I just picked up some Tam O’Shanter paint today to match a new fender and the super “patina” hood. Please advise. I know nothing about these things.

I would pull for sure, but rear should be 12 x 2 1/2, fronts could be 12 x 2 1/2 or 12x3.If you are planning on keeping the patina I would try to straighten that fender, doesnt look to bad.Nice truck.

To know what it shipped with, check behind the glovebox for the line set ticket(LST). If not there, look up WI Historical Society/McCorrmick-IH Collection to see if they have one. Your friend might be able to give some idea if the usual things(engine, transmission, axles) are known to have been replaced. the LST will list what brakes, clutch, trannny, engine, and other equipment your truck was shipped with.

I do have the build sheet but didn’t see anything about brakes. Should I scan it to this website?

Ok. I’ll check that out tonight. I assume the IH Parts book is on this site somewhere? I googled it and amazon came up, so if not here then it is available in print. I’m a VW guy and used to those parts, websites, and resources. Bear with me.

I dont know if they are online or not,I know the light line dealers all sell them. Super scout specialist . IH parts america are two of them,if you call them with your info, they could probably tell you what you need.

I wish I could have found that on my truck. I looked & looked and found nothing but the warranty & emissions manual sitting on part of the heater.

    Nice truck you have there.

LST(+/- $20) gives more information. As an example it will clearly give the master group part number of both the front and rear brakes. I know that on Scouts, it also will list the size of the brake shoes.
