I cringe just thinking about that.
The starter works on this one thankfully.
I couldn't turn it over by hand when I went to purchase it and the owner guaranteed me that it wasn't seized. He put a battery on it, bumped the key, and it turned. Maybe the high compression actually means something.

    Or wishful thinking/hoping/dreaming .
Wait, what? Are you saying you didn't even bring a simple screwdriver set? Hmmm, maybe I need to reevaluate your skills :cornfused:.

Like your Metro, guessing that the Military Scout is also off site/away from home? Perhaps you should swing a deal with the boss and/or bribe her so you can have more clutter around the house?

Have you tried ScoutFarts yet? Certainly they have one for only $263.99! But it's certainly not beyond hope that the Storage Shed could help your cause. Let me know, although for some reason I seem to recall it's keyed?

Thanks for the confidence vote. I had my tool roll with the basics, but this is going to require my impact driver to get the screws loose. Someone forgot to apply the antiseize to the threads before parking it 33 years ago.

    Thank you, sir.
For some reason I have trouble getting the latch adjusted so that it will open/close easily.
I might have a lead and will keep the thread updated. Thanks again.

My GB hinge was mouse pee rusted stuck! Yuk! I was able to pry it just enough to get a long screwdriver to the phillips head screws and off it came. Upon re-assembly, I shut the door and wallah---------Stuck shut!!!!!! I was able to slip a screwdriver through a top left upper hole behind the dash and push down on the little wedge/latch to pop it open. I bent the catch a bit and it's back to working again.

I pre-oiled the engine and I have spark when I crank it.
I was sloppy when I pulled the distributor so I'll have to find tdc and start fresh with it.
    Hopefully it will run soon.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

That's one clean rocker assembly! Sure you don't want to keep her?

Are the wires on the steering column something military related?

It had a winch that was controlled by a dash switch. The PO said someone stole the winch years ago.

I'd like to keep it if I had tons of money, time, and space.

Excellent job! It will run so good you will keep it. Or, the price will increase. LOL I've seen it listed, any bites? You need it anyway as back up for the other. Always have a back up for when you are going somewhere and the main unit goes down on you! :wrenching:

    Nothing serious.
I pulled the ad while I work on it.
I think a running scout will be easier to sell and I truly enjoy getting them going again.
The Travelall is always ready and willing if the scout doesn't want to work.

Today I did the State Police inspection, paid my fees, and will soon have a title in my name for it.
It´s also easier to sell a Scout that has a clear title. Lots of hoops to jump through to get it done, but I´m getting good at it.

This Scout was sold this weekend and the new owner is having it professionally restored.
He currently has a 57 IH Truck and a Farmall Cub, both look better than new.
This shop http://www.roadhogllc.com/ is doing the work. The owner of the shop was present when it was picked up and is excited to have a Scout in his shop.

Congrats Randy. I saw you had it listed on ebay. Is that indeed where/how you ended up selling it?

    Thanks.
It went to a local guy that found it on ebay. Not sure how he missed all of my local advertising, but he found it and is happy.
