Just starting a complete frame off restoration of the S100 and cleaning up some additional parts I have acquired. I haven’t been able to get the knobs off of the ends of the various control cables. There appears to be a small tab inside the knob which sticks out slightly below the chrome knob. But I can’t figure out how it works to release the shaft. I hate to destroy one of the controls to figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.

If you go to oldihc.org and search for "knob removal" you'll find all kinds of posts explaining the process. Basically it's a matter of inserting a pick/nail/pin in the hole in the knob, and pushing the tool toward the dash while pulling on the knob.

Thanks for the suggestion, it worked just fine with a little patience.
